Friedrichshafen 2011

Friedrichshafen 2011 has been high on the show agenda for all personnel at The Light Aircraft Company Ltd, it is very much our showcase for the European market and it is certainly where the volume of aircraft orders are coming from currently. For the 2 weeks preceding the show the TLAC crew readied the aircraft and modified the trailer for the 1800mile round trip from Little Snoring through to Friedrichshafen and back, all carried out at a speed of around 55mph. The first leg of the journey departing Sunday 6am Little Snoring took us to Dover to meet up with Reality Aircraft who joined us for both the journey and the exhibition. After a short boat trip to Calais we continued en-route to Laon for the first overnight and a well deserved meal, the following day Monday saw us make the long and somewhat interesting leg of the journey through to our destination and our hotel.

Tuesday morning prompted an early start to get to the exhibition hall with our aircraft, getting it unpacked and cleaned down from the long journey, the cleaning still necessary despite having gift wrapped her with shrink wrap prior to departure.

The show ran from Wednesday through to Saturday, whilst initially quite quiet the exhibition gathered a pace as the week rolled on, most time presenting somewhat of a challenge to get off the stand for a cup of coffee. Despite the global economic climate Friedrichshafen 2011 didn't disappoint the Sherwood Ranger crew, we took over 30 enquiries from 10 countries, both end user and distribution, we even had 2 television interviews one for internet based HD TV the other for the local TV station.
